What I'm primarily trying to do is to respond to things that catch my eye and interpret them into works that relate to the language of drawing and painting. The references come from nearly any source - nature, industry, design, and other art.
The work is rooted in late modernism, with the minimalist tendency toward reduction of form. Basic structures, scale and proportion, transparency versus opacity, pattern, and simplification mark the content of the work. I'm also interested in the potential of monochromatic painting.
