Painting is a primitive impulse. The physical substance of paint and the act of spreading it onto a surface is very comforting. All by itself it becomes a bridge to otherwise unnameable feelings and connects one to the body and to the earth.
This work deals with aspects of abstraction. The imagery grows out of the potential of the medium, as well as the formal means by which a structured image is built. Simplification of form and economy of means are steady goals toward which I'm continually working.
